Just the right gear should be in your bag to keep you cozy and comfortable.

Before embarking on a hike, it’s a good idea to check the weather forecast. Hiking during a heat wave or a thunderstorm is not recommended because it can be risky. The hike might need to be canceled if it gets too hot. Telling someone where you’re going and when you plan to return is another piece of hiking advice. Then, someone can guide you back to your location if you become lost.

You’ll be more likely to enjoy your hikes and avoid getting into trouble if you maintain an honest appraisal of your fitness level.
